At her first birthday one of the first things Doreen picked up was a pen. This was a birthday tradition, when several objects are placed in front of a baby and were meant to predict where their future interests lie. In a way it turned out to be true, because she kept picking up drawing tools over the years.

Doreen is a recent graduate of Sheridan College's Illustration program, and prior to that she was briefly at OCAD University for Graphic Design (2012).

She is currently based in Mississauga, Ontario.
